We are The Kitchen Master team. Our team is a dedicated group of award-winning and nationally published designers, a highly skilled crew of craftsmen and helpers and a support staff to carefully organize all the details. All of us work together to give you a rewarding design and remodeling experience that is second to none.
Since founding The Kitchen Master in 1977, Ted has fostered the growth and success of the Du Page County family-owned and operated company by remaining constant to his strong work ethic and philosophy of design. He believes in creating spaces that are extensions of each client’s own life and that the “kitchen gives us the arena for family growth, the hub of learning and loving, and the gathering place to share ours joys, sorrows, and dreams. In keeping with that understanding, Ted’s kitchen design work recognizes the importance of the intangible value of the space.
Ted has been a CKD and CBD since 1996. His work with the National Kitchen and Bath Association has included committee work in national certification test writing as well as work with the national Kitchen and Bath Industry Show. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the BKBG, the largest independent industry marketing and purchasing organization. Ted’s design work has been published in Better Homes and Gardens, Bath and Kitchen Design Ideas, other national periodicals and local newspapers. Ted relaxes by hiking, fishing, and reading.
A National Design Award Winner, Jennifer creates living spaces that combine the aesthetics of good design with the personal preferences and practical needs of each of her clients. Initially with her schooling in studio art and art history and later in Interior Architecture and Design, she brings a unique vision to her projects. She enjoys working with both historical motifs like Arts and Crafts but also loves to conceive designs that meld styles like Rustic and Contemporary into a cohesive but more eclectic composition. In reality, most homes are a blend of styles incorporated by its members sometimes over many years.
Jennifer understands the importance of listening to client’s needs and ideas but also prefers to embellish and present alternate concepts to ensure all options are considered when planning to makeover or building a new home.
When not focused on her client’s homes, Jennifer, because of her interest in history and recycling, enjoys refinishing or repurposing antique and vintage furniture. She is also very proud of her home and her garden where she enjoys entertaining her family and friends.

“My approach to design is to actively listen, create responsibly thereby reflecting the clients’ needs, wants and personality resulting in complete client satisfaction and a fascinating design that could span a lifetime.”
Kathy’s interest in design began at University of Illinois where she was an Interior Design Major. But it wasn’t until she started focusing on kitchens and bathrooms specifically, that she knew she had found her passion. Kathy loves the transformation process; it’s a journey that starts with listening and culminates with a cohesive plan that is not only exciting to the eye but also the true vision she has developed with her clients.
With more than seventeen years of professional experience, Ms. Mahoney has worked as a designer for Design-Build firms as well as developing her own design consulting firm where she was featured in her local Kitchen Walk as well as HGTV Magazine.
Kathy has a great appreciation for architecture and has completed whole house projects from the North Shore across the Western Suburbs. She has an enthusiasm for life that is infectious. When not designing, Kathy enjoys time with her family, gardening, travel and dance.
Judy is one of the owners and our “chief cook and bottle washer”. Having worked in the business for almost as long as Ted, there isn’t much she can’t do and do well. While Judy’s primary responsibilities are accounting related, she also is the liaison and expeditor for all job order materials. Judy has been known to make even the most uncooperative delivery man tremble when she wants your order delivered on time.
Jean is our office manager. She makes things happen. Whether it is assembling a complex job folder, carefully guiding visitors to our showroom or making sure your cabinets are ordered on time, Jean is always on top of every detail. The only problem we have with Jean is trying to get her to leave the office at the end of her work day.
