Naperville visitors and passersby must have been curious and even fearful last Tuesday morning as they watched dozens of kids, toddlers, and their parents scramble to keep up with a mini-flotilla of tiny plastic ducklings in the DuPage River along the Naperville Riverwalk. Over 2,000 numbered ducks floated down the river as hopeful kids and their families watched with fingers crossed to see if one of their bobbing ducklings would be first to swim its way to victory. One very lucky winner received nearly $2,000 dollars for their first-place finish and several other children won smaller cash prizes. It was a great day for all.
This was the 3rd Annual Riverwalk Duck Race. All proceeds benefit the Riverwalk Foundation for education and enhancements along the winding brick path of the city’s natural treasure.
Two designers from The Kitchen Master, Anna Lehner and Joseph Kiselyk, watched as their four children cheered on their 60-plus duckies as they fought their way to the finish line.
