Transitional Off-White with a Green Island

These Wayne, IL clients requested an expanded traditional kitchen with off white cabinets and a large accented / entertaining island. The original kitchen was dark, small with drywall soffits, segmented by multiple doorways, and had a peninsula that kept them from adequate function. By removing the poorly designed doorway to the dining room, the footprint and design options expanded substantially. Playing with cabinet depths and angles, we were able to create a mixed finish island that accommodates food prep, serving, and sitting. Custom appliance niches were designed to house coffee service and a rarely used microwave. Focal points were established by removing the soffits to expand the cabinet lines, creating a sink wall with glass doors and a cooktop space with a custom wood hood.
